TRENTON (AP) – Workers in the private sector in New Jersey are earning more money.
A report released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found those employees brought in an average of $899 in weekly earnings in March, up 2.2 percent over the same month in 2012.
Earnings rose in all major employment sectors.
The report finds the increase was due to rising pay. The average hours worked remained the same at 33.6 per week.
In March 2012, salaries were down by one-tenth of 1 percent over the previous year.
New Jersey had higher wages than the national average of $818 per week, and the growth was slightly faster than the national increase of just under 2 percent.
